Dried buds of the plant. Most notably termed the “toothache” plant, it is most often used to support pain in the mouth. When chewed, it can numb areas of the gum and mouth, making it a supportive remedy for the pain caused by various tooth complaints. Specifically the buds or fresh leaves have this numbing capability. It has a similar effect to Echinacea in treating painful canker sores. Because of this numbing component, Spilanthes can be a great support for throat complaints as well, soothing the pain and allowing for better ease of life. This plant is supposed to be antibacterial and antifungal. These properties make it a good herb for disinfecting wounds and for ringworm infections.
