Derived from Greek (helios for Sun, chrysos for gold), this is also sometimes called the “Everlasting Flower”. The buds are picked before they open to be brewed into this wonderful tea. In some parts of Africa it has been used as an aphrodisiac, and also as a food. The flowers are said to help reduce inflammation, stimulate digestion, support the immune system, and support skin reactions (especially contact dermatitis). The essential oil is included in many skin preparations. Some say that Helichrysum may reduce allergic reactions. Overall, Helichrysum is considered a supportive general tonic that can help to uplift health. Make sure you strain any tea you make with Helichrysum, and enjoy!
